Questions parents ask

How much does chemistry tutoring cost?

GCSE: £45 an hour online or £50 face to face in Plymouth, one-to-one. A-level: £55 online or £60 face to face. Small groups of two or more pay £30 to £40 each per hour. You pay after each session.

Do you tutor online or in person?

Mostly online, in the evenings and at weekends, so students anywhere in the UK can join. I also do a small amount of face-to-face tutoring in Plymouth and surrounding areas.

Which exam boards do you cover?

All the main UK boards at GCSE and A-level, including AQA, OCR, Edexcel and WJEC/Eduqas.

What are your qualifications?

I'm a qualified teacher with 11 years teaching chemistry from KS3 to A-level, at Queens Park Community School in London and Ivybridge Community College in Devon, including years in sixth-form leadership. I have a first in Natural Sciences from Cambridge, a PhD from UCL, and I'm a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Do you have space at the moment?

Get in touch to check availability. Tell me the year group, exam board and what you're hoping for, and I'll let you know what I can offer.

Is there a free first conversation?

Yes. I'll call a parent to talk through what your child needs and suggest a plan before any paid sessions.

Can you help with exam preparation or intensive revision?

Yes. Some students come for a whole course, others for a few weeks on tricky topics or intensive exam practice, including over the summer.

What do other parents say?

You can read what some parents say on my homepage, and see all my reviews on Facebook.

What results have your students achieved?

Many of my students have improved their grades and gone into their exams feeling much more confident. Every student is different, so we'll talk about realistic goals for your child in our first conversation.
